Roaring Fork Engineering (RFE) is seeking a Survey Party Chief to join our team in Carbondale. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in the following areas: boundary, easement, right of ways, topo surveys, GPS RTK and Static surveys, design surveys, and construction layout.

Our diverse clientele includes the City of Aspen, Habitat for Humanity, Aspen Skiing Company, Pitkin County, the Town of Carbondale, Basalt Sanitation District, and numerous architects and developers.

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $32 -$37 dependent on relevant experience. After a 6-month probationary period, we offer overtime pay for hours worked over 40 per week. We also provide:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct field surveys, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and control network establishment.
- Ensure accurate collection and recording of field survey data using various surveying equipment and technologies, such as Trimble total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Set up and operate surveying instruments to measure distances, angles, elevations, and contours.
- Prepare and review survey reports, maps, and drawings to present survey findings to project managers and clients.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure it is in proper working condition by conducting regular inspections and calibrations.
- Stay updated with the latest surveying techniques, technologies, and industry best practices to continuously improve surveying processes.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of land surveying experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Physically capable of performing typical land surveying tasks including the ability to carry 50+ lbs. of survey gear through mountainous terrain
- Detailed understanding of coordinate systems
- Ability to work independently or as part of a crew
- Motivated problem solver
- Ability to work long hours when needed with occasional out-of-town travel
- Strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS
- Colorado LSI or PLS
- Experience as a Party Chief
- Civil 3D experience
- Trimble software and hardware experience
- Diverse surveying experience with GPS and conventional surveying equipment including boundary retracement, construction staking, topographic mapping, and legal description preparation
